    The steering gear must be removed from the vehicle to perform this adjustment.

1.

Clean exterior of the rack and pinion assembly, drain power steering fluid out of the pressure and return ports, Fig. 2. Do not remove external
pressure lines unless they are leaking or damaged.

2.

Loosen and remove yoke plug locknut.

3.

Loosen yoke plug one turn.

4.

Using a 100 inch-pound capacity torque wrench, torque yoke plug to 45 inch pounds, Fig. 3.

5.

Using ``O'' mark on tool as a reference point, make an index mark on the gear housing, Fig. 3.

6.

Loosen yoke plug just enough until the second mark aligns with the mark previously made on the gear housing, Fig. 3.

7.

Holding plug, install and tighten to specifications, Fig. 4.
