Fuel Gauge: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect the negative battery.
2.
Remove the instrument cluster.
3.
From the front of the instrument cluster, remove the six screws that hold the lens and mask assembly to the backplate.
4.
Remove switch cap from English/Metric switch, then remove nut holding switch to mask assembly.
5.
Remove the insulator over five fuel gauge retaining nuts from back of cluster.
6.
Remove the four retaining nuts from the fuel gauge terminals on the back of the cluster.
7.
Remove the fuel gauge.
INSTALLATION
1.
Position the fuel gauge to the cluster backplate and install the five retaining nuts and the wire ground terminal.
2.
Install the insulator.
3.
Install English/Metric switch into the mask, install nut and put cap on switch.
4.
Position the lens and mask assembly to the backplate and install six retaining screws.
5.
Install the cluster.
6.
Connect the battery ground cable. Check fuel gauge for operation.
