Thunderbird V8-4.6L VIN W (1997)
Door Stuck Open
1.
Remove the door latch following the procedure outlined in the appropriate Service Manual.
2.
Install a new door latch and illuminated entry switch following the procedure outlined in the Service Manual.
Door Stuck Closed - Thunderbird/Cougar
1.
Spray the gap between the door trim panel and the instrument panel with silicone.
2.
Lower the door glass.
3.
Remove the door trim panel following the procedure outlined in the appropriate Service Manual.
4.
Raise the door glass to the full up position.
5.
Remove the glass run latch side retainer and the regulator equalizer bracket following the procedure outlined in the Service Manual.
6.
Remove the inside handle and rod following the procedure outlined in the Service Manual.
7.
Insert a screwdriver into the top of the latch and pry open the latch cover approximately 12 mm (0.5") as shown in Figure 1.
