Power Steering Valve: Description and Operation
NORMAL OPERATION
The EVO power steering control valve actuator generates a differential pressure, dependent on flow and current input.

This differential pressure is used to control the spool valve in the power steering pump.

On the CIII power steering pump, the power steering control valve actuator bolts directly to the housing.

The power steering control valve actuator regulates the hydraulic flow and when combined with a current controlling device, yields a variable
assist power steering system.
FAIL-SAFE MODE
In the event of an electrical circuit malfunction such as circuits open/shorted or control module failure, the actuator will provide full power
steering assist.
