Description
Trolley jack
Remove
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support under the chassis side members.
   Leave the jack under the rear axle.

2. Disconnect the driveshaft.
1. Mark the position of the driveshaft flange in relation to the rear axle drive flange.
2. Four bolts.
   Tie the driveshaft up to one side.

3. Disconnect the handbrake linkage.
1. Unhook the return spring.
2. Remove the clevis pin retaining clip and withdraw the clevis pin.
3. Disconnect the linkage from the equaliser.
4. Remove the cable sheaths from the retainers.
   Take off one spring clip for each one.

4. Detach the brake pipes and hoses.
• Front/rear split - one hose
• Diagonal split - two hoses
1. Unscrew the brake pipes and seal them.
2. Remove the steel clips.
3. Remove the brake hoses from the bracket and seal them.

5. Unhook the LAV control spring.
1. Raise the rear axle assembly with the jack until the LAV control spring is relaxed.
2. Remove the control spring from the LAV lever.
   Remove the spring clip and the clevis pin.
3. If necessary, remove the spring clip from the rear axle bracket.
   Lower the jack.

6. If necessary, disconnect the ABS sensor wiring at the chassis side member.

7. Detach the cable sheath brackets.

8. Detach the two shock absorbers.

9. Unhook the exhaust pipe.

10. Spring hanger - standard:
1. Remove the spring hanger or upper rear spring hanger bolts.
2. Remove the front spring bolts.

11. Spring hanger - reinforced:
1. Remove the upper spring hanger bolts.
2. Remove the front spring bolts.

12. Lower the rear axle assembly and slide it out from under the vehicle.
Install
13. General note:
   All self‐locking nuts and spring washers must be renewed during installation.
14. Place the complete rear axle in position under the vehicle.

15. Fit the spring and screw the nuts on finger tight - standard.

16. Fit the spring and screw the nuts on finger tight - reinforced.

17. Fit the two shock absorbers.

18. Hook the exhaust pipe in place.

19. Screw on the cable sheath brackets.

20. If necessary, connect the ABS sensor wiring at the chassis side member.

21. Hook the LAV control spring in place.
1. Raise the rear axle with a jack and secure the control spring to the LAV lever.
2. Secure the clevis spring with a spring clip.
3. If necessary, insert the control spring in the rear axle bracket and secure it with a spring clip.
   Lower the jack.

22. Attach the brake pipes and hoses.
• Front/rear split - one hose
• Diagonal split - two hoses
• Remove the plugs from the brake pipes and hoses.
1. Guide the brake hoses through the brackets and secure them with clips.
2. Screw the brake pipes into the brake hoses and secure them.

23. Connect the handbrake linkage.
1. Guide the cable sheaths into the retainers and secure them with spring clips.
2. Insert the linkage into the equaliser and secure it with a clevis pin and a spring clip.
3. Hook the return spring in place.

24. Fit the driveshaft to the rear axle.
1. Align the marks on the two flanges.
2. Tighten the four bolts.

25. Bleed the rear brake circuit as described in Operation No. 12 141 0.
   Apply the handbrake.

26. Lower the vehicle.
27. Tighten the spring bolt.

2. Reinforced spring hanger

28. Secure the spring hanger.
1. Standard spring hanger
2. Reinforced spring hanger
29. Check the LAV ”X" dimension as described in Operation No. 12 136 0, and adjust it as necessary.

NOTE:

Check the rear axle oil level only when the vehicle is standing on a level surface.

30. Check the oil level.
31. Do up the oil check/filler plug tightly.
