Removal and Installation

Two trolley jacks
Axle stands

Removal

  1. Raise the parking brake control to its highest position.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  1. Close all the vehicle doors.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:After raising the vehicle body, wait two minutes to allow the air to evacuate from the air springs.
    Evacuate the air from the air springs.
    • Using two suitable trolley jacks, raise the vehicle body until the axle bump stop is 100 mm from the axle.

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:The air suspension isolator switch must be in the OFF position before working on the air suspension components. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
    Turn the air suspension isolator switch to the OFF position.

  1. Lower the vehicle body until the axle bump stop is 40 mm from the axle.

  1. Using suitable axle stands, support the vehicle body.

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Make sure the air pressure in the air springs is fully evacuated by squeezing the air springs. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
    WARNING:
    WARNING:Residual air pressure may be present in the air springs. Wear gloves and eye protection when disconnecting air lines from the air springs. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the air line and collet to prevent dirt and water ingress.
    Disconnect the air line from the air spring.
    1. Depress the collet.
    1. Disconnect the air line.

  1. Remove the air spring upper retaining clips.

  1. Remove the air spring lower retaining clips.

  1. Remove the air spring.

Installation

WARNING:
WARNING:Make sure the air spring is upright and seated correctly before inflation. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
NOTE:
NOTE:Check the air lines for damage and trim the ends if necessary before installing them into the collets.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Turn the air suspension isolator switch to the ON position.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:If the air springs do not fully inflate to ride height within eight minutes, the air suspension compressor will switch off. To start the compressor, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and then to the RUN position to reset the air suspension control module. If the air springs do not fully inflate after the air suspension control module has been reset, check the system for air leaks.
    Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position to activate the air suspension compressor to charge the air system.
