In-vehicle Repair

Removal

All vehicles
  1. Remove the intake air resonator to turbocharger pipe.

  1. Disconnect the oil supply tube from the turbocharger.
    • Discard the sealing washers.
  1. Remove the catalytic converter. For additional information, refer to Section  309-00 Exhaust System.

  1. Remove the catalytic converter support bracket.

  1. Disconnect the oil return tube from the turbocharger.
    • Discard the gasket.

  1. Remove the oil return tube.
    • Discard the O-ring seal.
Vehicles with 75 PS engine
  1. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve tube from the turbocharger.
Vehicles with 100 PS engine
  1. Disconnect the charge air cooler intake pipe from the turbocharger.

  1. Detach the EGR cooler from the exhaust manifold.
All vehicles
  1. Remove the turbocharger and exhaust manifold assembly.
    • Discard the gasket, the bolts and the nuts.

  1. Remove the exhaust manifold studs.
    • Discard the studs.

  1. Remove the turbocharger heatshield.

Installation

All vehicles
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new exhaust manifold studs, bolts, nuts and all new gaskets and O-ring seals
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
