Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the power steering pump belt.
    For additional information, refer to: Power Steering Pump Belt (303-05 Accessory Drive, Removal and Installation).
  1. Drain the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to: Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding (303-03 Engine Cooling, General Procedures).
  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Remove the intake manifold.
    For additional information, refer to: Intake Manifold (303-01B Engine - 2.0L Duratorq-Di (Puma) Diesel/2.0L Duratorq-TDCi (Puma) Diesel/2.0L Duratorq-TDDi (Puma) Diesel, In-vehicle Repair).
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

  1. Remove the intake air hose.

  1. Remove the coolant hose support bracket.

  1. Detach the power steering pump from the coolant pump and position it to one side.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Using the special tool, disconnect the coolant hoses from the coolant pump.

  1. Remove the coolant pump retaining bolts.
    • Detach the wiring harness from the coolant pump lower retaining bolts.

  1. Using the special tool, disconnect the coolant hose and remove the coolant pump.
    • Discard the gasket.

  1. Remove the engine oil temperature control thermostat.
    • Discard the O-ring seal.

  1. Remove and discard the coolant pump O-ring seal and lubricating paste from the coolant pump.

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:Install a new engine oil temperature control thermostat O-ring seal.
NOTE:
NOTE:Install a new coolant pump gasket.

  1. Install the engine oil temperature control thermostat.

  1. Using the special tool, connect the coolant hose to the coolant pump.

  1. Install the coolant pump retaining bolts.
    • Attach the wiring harness to the coolant pump lower retaining bolts.

  1. Using the special tool, connect the coolant hoses to the coolant pump.

  1. Install a new coolant pump O-ring seal to the coolant pump drive.

  1. Coat the power steering pump drive shaft spline with lubricating paste (power steering pump shown removed for clarity).
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

  1. Attach the power steering pump to the coolant pump (shown from below for clarity).

  1. Install the coolant hose support bracket.

  1. Install the intake air hose.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Install the intake manifold.

  1. Fill the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to: Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding (303-03 Engine Cooling, General Procedures).
  1. Install the power steering pump belt.
    For additional information, refer to: Power Steering Pump Belt (303-05 Accessory Drive, Removal and Installation).
