Electronic Engine Controls - Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor—2.0L Duratorq-TDCi (Puma) Diesel Transit 2000.5 (01/2000-05/2006)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector.

  1. Remove the CKP sensor.
    1. Discard the CKP sensor.

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:Install a new CKP sensor.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Only turn the engine in the normal direction of rotation.
    Turn the engine until a flywheel trigger tooth is visible through the CKP sensor housing.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The CKP sensor tip must rest on a flywheel trigger tooth. Incorrect installation may result in the CKP sensor being damaged.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the CKP sensor housing is clean and free from foreign material.
    Install the CKP sensor.

  1. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
