Removal and Installation

General Equipment
Two leg puller
M6 x 30 mm bolt
Spacer shim

Removal

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt.For additional information, refer to Section  303-05 Accessory Drive.
  1. Raise the vehicle.For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Pull off the connector from the A/C compressor clutch.

  1. Detach the wiring harness from the A/C compressor bracket.

  1. Remove the A/C compressor retaining bolts.

  1. Detach the refrigerant line bracket from the A/C compressor bracket.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Support the A/C compressor before removing the retaining bolts and secure it at one side to prevent loading of the refrigerant lines.
    Detach the A/C compressor from the A/C compressor bracket.

  1. Remove the A/C compressor drive plate.

  1. Remove the A/C compressor pulley.
    • Remove the spacer shims.
    • Remove and discard the snap ring.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Mark the position of the compressor clutch connector in relation to the compressor housing.
    Using a suitable two leg puller, remove the clutch field coil.

Installation
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not tilt the clutch field coil when installing it in the A/C compressor.
    Using a M6 x 30 mm bolt, a suitable washer and the A/C compressor drive plate, install the clutch field coil.
  1. Remove the M6 x 30 mm bolt, washer and compressor drive plate.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new A/C compressor pulley snap ring.
    Install the A/C compressor pulley.
    • Install the snap ring.

  1. Install the A/C compressor drive plate.
  1. Check the A/C compressor clutch air gap.For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.

  1. Attach the A/C compressor to the A/C compressor bracket.

  1. Attach the refrigerant line bracket to the A/C compressor bracket.

  1. Install the A/C compressor retaining bolts.

  1. Attach the wiring harness to the A/C compressor bracket.

  1. Fit the A/C compressor clutch connector.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Install the accessory drive belt.For additional information, refer to Section  303-05 Accessory Drive.
