Oil Pan: Service and Repair
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Relieve fuel system pressure.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable then, raise and support vehicle.
3. Drain crankcase, then remove oil filter.
4. Remove dual converter Y pipe assembly using exhaust connector holder tool No. T94TY-6000-AH or equivalent.
5. Remove starter motor, then torque converter housing cover.
6. Remove oil pan attaching bolts and oil pan.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Use a suitable silicone sealant on clean dry surfaces, apply sufficient sealer to gaps where front cover and rear main housings meet block and
pan to ensure an oil tight seal.
b. Trial fit oil pan to ensure sufficient clearance exists to allow installation of oil pan without smearing or scraping off sealant
c. Tighten bolts to 80-106 in lb.
d. Connect battery ground cable.
NOTE: Vehicle specific information about operation, stored in PCM using battery backed up memory, may be lost when battery is disconnected.
If this occurs poor engine performance, stalling and other driveability problems may occur. It may be necessary to drive the vehicle for up to 10
miles to allow the PCM to relearn this information.
