ISSUE:
Accelerator pedal "buzzing" noise and/or exhaust "droning" noise at approximately 1700 rpm while driving may occur on some vehicles. This may be
caused by a resonance transmitted from the exhaust system and engine vibrations.
ACTION:
Install a Service Kit which contains a replacement accelerator cable bracket and an exhaust damper. Refer to the Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Verify concern is related to the exhaust system as follows. The engine should be fully warm before proceeding. Set the parking brake, start the engine
and put the gear selector in "D." With the brake pedal depressed, lightly tip in the throttle to raise engine rpm to between 1600 and 1800. Allow the
engine to come back to an idle. Several cycles may be necessary to duplicate the concern. If the concern is verified, refer to the procedures to install the
Service Kit.
The Service Kit (F88Z-9728-AA) includes the following:
^
One (1) U-bolt
^
One (1) Exhaust Damper
^
One (1) Revised Accelerator Bracket
1.
Install the Service Kit exhaust damper to the converter assembly.
