  Removing Ignition Wires At Coil Pack

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the ignition wire from the ignition coil by squeezing the locking tabs and twisting while pulling upward.

CAUTION: Do not pull on the ignition wire directly as the wire may separate from the connector inside the boot.

2. When removing ignition wires from spark plugs, use Spark Plug Wire Remover T74P-6666-A, or equivalent. Grasp and twist the ignition wire

spark plug boot back and forth on the spark plug insulator to free the boot.

CAUTION: Do not pull on the ignition wire directly as the wire may separate from the connector inside the boot.

3. Open ignition wire separators and remove ignition wire.

INSTALLATION 

NOTE: Whenever an ignition wire is removed for any reason from a spark plug or ignition coil or a new ignition wire is installed, coat the entire
interior surface of the boot with Silicone Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A (Motorcraft WA-10) or equivalent meeting Ford specification
ESE-M1C171-A with a small, clean tool prior to installation.

CAUTION: Proper installation of Ignition wires is critical to vehicle operation. If any ignition wire is not properly installed on spark plug or ignition
coil, both spark plugs connected to that ignition coil may not operate under load.

1. Install each ignition wire to the proper terminal on the ignition coil. The terminals on the ignition coil and the ignition wire are numbered. Make

sure the boots are fully seated and that both ignition coil boot locking tabs are engaged.

2. Route ignition wire and ignition wire separators: See: Diagrams
3. Connect ignition wire to spark plug.
