Timing Cover: Service and Repair

Fig. 22  Timing Belt Components.

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Raise and support vehicle.

3.

Remove right lower stone shield.

4.

Lower vehicle.

5.

Disconnect engine wiring harness from upper timing belt cover.

6.

Remove accessary drive belts.

7.

Remove crankshaft pulley using puller tool No. J-1859-03, or equivalent.

8.

Remove cylinder head cover and windshield washer reservoir.

9.

Support engine using support tool No. J-28467-A, or equivalent.

10.

Remove right engine mount through bolt.

11.

Raise and support vehicle.

12.

Remove two rear transaxle mount to main crossmember nuts.

13.

Remove two center transaxle mount to center crossmember nuts.

14.

Lower vehicle.

15.

Raise engine and remove water pump pulley.

16.

Remove timing belt covers attaching screws and timing belt covers, Fig. 22.

17.

Reverse procedure to install.
