Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair
Front Coil Spring
1.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheels.
2.
On 4WD models, remove locking hub as outlined under TRANSMISSIONS CLUTCHES DIFFERENTIALS AXLES AND DRIVE
SHAFTS/AXLE, DRIVE SHAFTS/COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR/LOCKING HUB then the front axle shaft circlip and
washer.
3.
On all models, remove brake caliper assembly, then suspend out of way.
4.
Remove brake disc, then the stabilizer link.
5.
Using tie rod end remover No. J21687-02 or equivalent, remove tie rod end.
6.
Using a suitable jack, support the suspension arm, then remove the lower strut bracket from the suspension arm.
7.
Remove ball stud castle nut from ball stud
8.
Lower jack, then remove steering knuckle and wheel hub assembly.
9.
Remove coil spring.
10.
Reverse procedure to install. Tighten to specifications.
