C 1500 Truck 2WD V8-4.8L VIN V (2000)
1. Install the new pitman shaft cover O-ring (4).
2. Install the pitman shaft and cover assembly (3) onto the steering gear housing assembly.
3. Install the lash adjuster nut (2) onto the pitman shaft and cover assembly (3)
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the pitman shaft cover bolts (1) onto the pitman shaft and cover assembly (3).

Tighten the pitman shaft cover bolts to 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the pitman arm. Refer to Pitman Shaft Seals and Bearing Replacement - Off Vehicle (700 Gear) or Pitman Shaft Seals and Bearing
Replacement - Off Vehicle (670 Gear).
6. install the stub shaft housing. Refer to Stub Shaft Housing Replacement.

Disassembly Procedure
1. Remove the adjuster plug lock nut (5) from the adjuster plug (4).
2. Remove the adjuster plug (4) from the gear assembly (1).
3. Remove the adjuster spring (3) and the rack bearing (2).
