Oil Filter Adapter: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the oil filter from the oil filter adapter (2WD only).
3. Remove the oil filter adapter bolt from the engine block (4WD only).
IMPORTANT: Do not damage the engine block when removing the bypass valve.
4. Remove the oil cooler bypass valve.
4.1. Install a 4.8 mm (3/16 inch) sheet metal screw into the hole in the cup plug.
