Roller hydraulic lifters are used to reduce friction between valve lifter and camshaft lobe. Guides keep the lifters from rotating on the camshaft lobes,

1.
Remove rocker arm covers and rocker arms.
2.
Remove guide clamps and guide plates.
3.
Remove valve lifters through access hole in cylinder head using Tool J-29834 and a magnet.
4.
Reverse procedure to install. Crankshaft must be manually rotated 720° after assembly of lifter guide plate clamp to insure free movement
of lifters.
