Oil Pan: Service and Repair
A one piece type oil pan gasket is used on these engines.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Drain oil from engine.
4. Disconnect exhaust crossover pipe.
5. Remove torque converter cover.
6. Remove strut rods from flywheel cover, if equipped.
7. Remove strut rods from front engine mounts, if equipped.
8. Remove oil pan attaching bolts, nuts and reinforcements.
9. Remove oil pan and gasket.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply sealant to front cover block joint and to rear crankshaft seal to block joint. Apply sealant approximately 1 inch in both directions from
each of the four corners.
b. Tighten oil pan attaching bolts and oil pan nuts in corners to specifications.
