K 1500 Truck 4WD V8-5.3L VIN T (2000)
1. Place the steering gear in position.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the steering gear to the frame bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the pitman arm. Refer to Pitman Arm Replacement.
4. Install the intermediate shaft. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (Upper) or Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (Lower)
Steering Column-Tilt.
5. Remove the plugs and the caps from the steering gear and the hoses.
6. Connect the hoses to the steering gear.

Tighten the hose connection to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the shield. Refer to Shield Replacement in Front Drive Axle.
8. Bleed the system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System.
9. Lower the vehicle.
