The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act, as amended, provides that each vehicle which is subject to a recall campaign of this type must be
adequately repaired within a reasonable time after the owner has tendered it for repair. A failure to adequately repair within sixty (60) days after tender
of a vehicle is prima facie evidence of failure to repair within a reasonable time.
Every effort must be made to promptly schedule an appointment with each owner and to repair their vehicle as soon as possible. As you will see in
reading the attached copy of the letter that is being sent to owners, the owner is being instructed to contact GMC Truck Division Customer Relations
Office or the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center if their dealer does not remedy the condition within five days of the mutually agreed upon service
date. If the conditions not remedied within a reasonable time, they are instructed on how to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
REASON FOR THIS RECALL
General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain recently manufactured replacement fuel tanks sold
through General Motors Service Parts Operations (GMSPO). The tanks involved are 16 and 20 gallon service part fuel tanks used on 1975-86 C/K
Pickup and 1987-91 R/V Pickup and Cab-Chassis trucks. These replacement tanks may have one or more pairs of the six projection welds that attach the
sender unit retaining ring to the tank which may not meet specification. These welds may fracture during sending unit installation. If the welds fractured
and this was not noticed by the installer, the tank could spray some fuel in a collision and/or could leak fuel if the vehicle rolled over. If an ignition
source were present, a fire could occur.
Service tanks involved in this recall are GM part numbers as shown.
These tanks service 1975-86 C/K and 1987-91 R/V Pickup and Cab-Chassis trucks. These trucks were produced by GM between December 1, 1993
through September 12, 1994, and were sold through GMSPO. Included in this letter is a list of involved tanks sold to your dealership.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
Your dealership sales records require inspection to determine the name and address of purchasers of these replacement tanks.
