Oil Pan: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect batteries and raise vehicle.

2.

Drain engine oil, then remove transmission or flywheel dust cover.

3.

Remove exhaust pipes from manifold, then the front engine mounting through bolts.

Carefully raise and support engine. When raising or supporting the engine for any reason, do not use a jack under the oil pan, any sheet
metal or crankshaft pulley. Due to the small clearance between the oil pan and oil pump screen, jacking against the oil pan may cause it to
be bent against the pump screen, resulting in a damaged oil pickup unit.

Remove oil pan attaching bolts, then the oil pan.

6.

Reverse procedure to install. Apply a 3/32 inch bead of RTV sealant or equivalent, to the oil pan sealing surfaces, inboard of the bolt holes. The
sealer must be wet to the touch when oil pan is installed. Tighten attaching bolts specifications.
