K 2500 Truck 4WD V8-6.0L VIN U (1999)
IMPORTANT: Do not score the housing bore when prying out seals and washers. Remove the pitman shaft dust seal (3) from the steering gear
housing (1).

Inspect the housing for burrs and remove if necessary.

Insert J 6278 through the hole in the top of the steering gear housing (1).

Drive out the needle bearing (2) from the steering gear housing (1).

J 6278 Pitman Shaft Bearing Remover and Installer

J 4245 Internal Snap Ring Pliers
1. Install the needle bearing (2) into the steering gear housing (1) using J 6278.
2. Drive the bearing into the housing until the needle bearing shoulder seats against the housing.
