Communication Information Irregularities When Using Generic Scan Tools (Reprogram PCM)
Models:
2001 Chevrolet and GMC C/K Pickup Models (Silverado, Sierra) with 6.6L Duramax(TM) Diesel Engine (VIN 1 - RPO LB7)
Condition
Some technicians may find irregularities in the information provided when using a generic scan tool with the Duramax(TM) Diesel engine. The items
that may be affected are:

DTC P0700 Freeze Frame information was not stored
^
Lists current DTC codes instead of History DTC codes
^
Repeated requests for I/M Readiness information lock communications
^
Load value is not calculated
Cause
Calibration may not correctly support all communication modes.
Correction
Reprogram the PCM with the latest calibration if the vehicle contains a calibration prior to October, 2001.
Parts Information
The calibrations referenced are electronic calibrations and are NOT available from GMSPO. Calibrations will be available from Techline starting
October 2001, on the TIS 2000 version TIS 11.0/2001 data update or later.
