Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
1.
Drain engine cooling system.Before removing intake manifold, check that the cooling system is completely drained. Any coolant left in the
engine will flow into the cylinder when the manifold is removed.
2.
Remove air cleaner assembly.
3.
Disconnect radiator upper hose from intake manifold.
4.
Disconnect vacuum hose from manifold.
5.
Disconnect heater hoses from manifold and from connector under the dashboard.
6.
Disconnect accelerator control cable from carburetor.
7.
Disconnect distributor vacuum hose from distributor and the thermo-unit wiring at the connector.
8.
Disconnect automatic choke and solenoid wiring at connectors.
9.
Disconnect PCV hose from the rocker arm cover.
10.
Disconnect oil level gage guide tube fixing bolt at the intake manifold.
11.
Disconnect the EGR pipe from the EGR valve adapter and the AIR vacuum hose from the 3-way joint.
12.
Remove EGR valve and adapter.
13.
Remove the eight attaching nuts and remove the intake manifold.
14.
Using a new gasket, reverse procedure to install.
