Remove starter motor and position aside.
2.
Remove transmission.
3.
On vehicles equipped with manual transmission, remove clutch cover and pressure plate assembly, then the flywheel and flywheel cover.
4.
On vehicles equipped with automatic transmission, remove flex plate.
5.
On all vehicles, pry seal from retainer, Fig. 7.
6.
Install new seal using tool J-22928-A, Fig. 8. Prior to installation, fill clearance between lips of seal with suitable grease and lubricate seal lip with
clean engine oil.
