Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Remove lower instrument panel trim and nuts securing steering column bracket, then lower column just enough to gain access to switches. Use
care when lowering steering column to prevent damage to column assembly. It may be necessary to remove bracket from column to gain
access to switches.
3.
Rotate ignition lock to the ``ACC'' position on models with key release lever, or to the ``Off'' unlocked position on models less release lever.
4.
If lock cylinder has been removed, pull actuator rod back to stop, then, on models without key release lever, pushrod down to second detent.
5.
Remove nut and screw securing dimmer switch, disconnect electrical connector, then disengage and remove dimmer switch, Figs. 2 and 3.If
ignition switch is not being replaced, proceed to step 10.

Remove stud screw securing ignition switch, disconnect electrical connector, then disengage and remove switch.
7.
Position slider on replacement switch in ``ACC'' position for models with key release, or in ``Off'' unlocked position for models less key release as
shown in Figs. 2 and 3.
8.
Mount ignition switch over actuator rod and install stud screw finger tight.
9.
Apply slight rearward pressure to switch body, ensuring that switch remains in proper detent position, then torque screw to 35 inch lbs. to secure
adjustment.
10.
Depress dimmer switch plunger slightly and insert 3/32 inch drill or rod to lock plunger to switch body, Figs. 2 and 3.
11.
Engage actuator rod in switch and install retaining nut and screw finger tight.
12.
Apply slight rearward pressure to switch to take up slack, then torque mounting nut and screw to 35 inch lbs.
13.
Connect electrical connectors to ignition and dimmer switches, align steering column and bracket on mounting studs and torque retaining nuts to
20 ft. lbs.
14.
Reverse remaining procedure to complete installation and ensure switches operate properly in all positions.
