Temperature Actuator

A/C System - Manual

NOTE:  The temperature valve actuator is located on top of the heater case.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Negative battery cable. 

CAUTION:  
Before removing or installing any electrical units or when a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with "live" exposed electrical terminals,
disconnect the negative battery cable to help prevent personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or components.  Unless instructed otherwise, the
ignition switch must be in the "OFF" or "LOCK" position.

2. Roll Instrument Panel back.  See: Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators/Instrument Cluster / Carrier/Service and Repair 

(a)  Remove instrument panel compartment door check straps.  Use a small flat screwdriver to release the door check strap retainers.
(b)  Remove screws that retain the instrument panel compartment door hinges to the instrument panel.
Remove instrument panel compartment door from the instrument panel.
(c)  Remove screws that retain the instrument panel compartment door striker from the instrument panel.
(d)  Remove screws that retain the instrument panel compartment door striker to the instrument panel.
(e)  Remove instrument panel compartment door striker from the instrument panel.
(f)  Remove screws that retain the instrument panel compartment bezel to the instrument panel.
(g)  Remove instrument panel compartment bezel from the instrument panel.
(h)  Remove electrical connectors from the instrument panel compartment lamp and switch assembly.   

3. Remove electrical connectors, as necessary.
4. Remove retaining screws from temperature valve actuator.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Temperature valve actuator retaining screws.
2. Electrical connectors to the instrument panel compartment lamp and switch assembly.
3. Roll Instrument Panel forward.  Assemble in reverse order.  Tighten screws to 1.9 N.m (17 lb in).
4. Negative battery cable. 
5. Check circuit operation.

A/C System - Automatic

Removal Procedure

The temperature valve actuator is located on the front of the heater case.

1. Remove the right side instrument panel sound insulator.  See: Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators/Instrument Cluster /

Carrier/Service and Repair 

2. Remove the instrument panel storage compartment. 
3. Disconnect the passenger side Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system.
4. Remove the lower right instrument panel mounting bolt.
5. Remove the left and right speaker grilles.
6. Remove the windshield defroster grille retaining screws.
7. Remove the windshield defroster grille.
8. Remove the center instrument panel sound insulator. 
9. Remove the left side instrument panel sound insulator. 

10. Remove the knee bolster. 
11. Remove the lower left instrument panel mounting bolt.
12. Remove the Body Control Module (BCM). 
13. Disconnect the driver side SIR. 
14. Remove the instrument panel cluster. 
15. Remove the radio. 
16. Remove the HVAC control assembly. 
17. Remove the knee deflector. 
18. Remove the steering column retaining nuts. 
19. Lower the steering column.
20. Remove the instrument panel carrier. 
21. Remove the temperature valve actuator retaining screws.
22. Remove the temperature valve actuator.
