Hydraulic Assembly: Service and Repair
Electro Hydraulic Control Unit
The EHCU module is not serviceable. It should be replaced when the diagnosis charts show it to be malfunctioning.
Remove or Disconnect:
1.
Intermediate steering shaft from the steering column.
2.
Brake lines from the bottom of the combination valve.
3.
Electrical connector from the combination valve.
4.
Master cylinder and combination valve assembly.
5.
Brake lines from EHCU module.
6.
Electrical connectors from the EHCU module.
7.
EHCU module and bracket assembly from the vehicle.
8.
EHCU module from the mounting bracket.
Install or Connect:
1.
EHCU module to the mounting bracket.
2.
Six bolts holding the EHCU module to the mounting bracket.
3.
Tighten six bolts to 7 N-m (60 in. lbs.). Over tightening these bolts could result in excessive noise transfer from the EHCU module.
4.
EHCU module and bracket assembly into the vehicle.
5.
Tighten bolt to 45 N-m (33 ft. lbs.) and nuts to 27 N-m (20 ft. lbs.)
6.
Electrical connectors to the EHCU module.
7.
Brake lines to the EHCU module.
8.
Tighten brake line fittings to 25 N-m (16 ft. lbs.).
9.
Master cylinder and combination valve assembly.
10.
Electrical connector to the combination valve.
11.
Brake lines to the bottom of the combination valve.
12.
Tighten brake line fittings to 20 N-m (15 ft. lbs.).
13.
Intermediate steering shaft to the steering column.
14.
Bleed the brake system including the EHCU module.
