Savana 2500 V8-6.6L DSL Turbo (2008)
Important: In steps 1 and 2, drive the axle shaft bearing into the axle housing until the tool bottoms against the axle tube.
1. If servicing the 8.6 inch axle, use the J 23690 (1) and the J 8092 (2) to install the axle shaft bearing.
2. If servicing the 9.75 inch axle, use the J 29709 (1) and the J 8092 (2) to install the axle shaft bearing.
Important: Drive the tool into the bore until the axle shaft seal bottoms flush with the axle tube.
3. If servicing the 8.6 axle, use the J 21128 to install the axle shaft seal.
4. If servicing the 9.75 inch axle, use the J 29713 to install the axle shaft seal.

6. Install the rear axle housing cover. Refer to Rear Axle Housing Cover and Gasket Replacement (8.6 Inch Axle) (See: Differential
Assembly/Differential Cover/Service and Repair/Rear Axle Housing Cover and Gasket Replacement (8.6 Inch Axle))Rear Axle Housing Cover

7. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (See: Maintenance/Wheels and Tires/Service and Repair) .
8. Fill the rear axle. Refer to Rear Axle Lubricant Replacement (8.6 Inch Axle) (See: Differential Assembly/Fluid - Differential/Service and

9. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
