Savana 3500 V8-4.8L (2009)
1. Install a new oil level indicator tube seal into the transmission case.
2. Install the bottom of oil level indicator tube into the seal.
3. Remove the safety stands.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Install the upper fill tube to the vehicle.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Caution).
6. Install the bolt and the nut securing the oil level indicator tube brackets to the engine.

Tighten the bolt to 47 Nm (35 lb ft).

Tighten the nut to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
7. Install the nut securing the oil level indicator tube to the transmission stud and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
8. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance
Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service and Repair) for the 4.3L engine, Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (See: Engine, Cooling and
Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service and Repair) for the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L engine, or Air
Cleaner Assembly Replacement (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner
Housing/Service and Repair) for the 6.6L engine.
9. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (See: Body and Frame/Access Cover/Service and Repair).
10. Fill the transmission fluid to the proper level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check (See: Fluid - A/T/Testing and Inspection/4L80-E/4L85-E -
Automatic Transmission).
