An improved oil drain plug gasket, P/N 14090908, is available to replace the copper gasket. The new gasket is a steel washer with captured O-ring
(Viton).
The new O-ring/steel gasket is capable of sealing irregular surfaces with light torques while retaining the clamping load over time. Reuse of the
O-ring/steel gasket does not lessen sealing or torque retention characteristics.
Recommended torque for the O-ring/steel gasket is 12-20 ft.lbs. (16-27 N-m).
Excessively higher torques may cause deformation, splitting, or loss of sealing capability.
