Oil Pump: Service and Repair
6-250, 292, V6-229, 262, V8-267, 305, 350, 400 & 454
Removal & Installation
1.
Remove oil pan as described previously.
2.
On 6-250 and 6-292 engines, remove the two flange mounting bolts, then the pickup pipe bolt and oil pump assembly.
3.
On all except 6-250 and 6-292 engines, remove pump to rear main bearing cap bolt, then the pump and extension shaft.
4.
Reverse procedure to install. Ensure bottom edge of oil pump screen is parallel to bottom edge of oil pan rails, on all except 6-250 and 6-292
engines.
