This spacer plate change was implemented during 1986 model production on a model by model basis beginning on transmission Julian Date 190 (see
Figure No.. 1) for some models. The chart in Figure No. 2 lists the Julian Date the change was
incorporated for each 1986 model, the new spacer plate part numbers and codes, and the correct 1982- 1986 model applications for the new plate. The
new spacer plate should be installed on any 1982-1985 model, and 1986 model with breakpoints prior to those listed in Figure No. 2, to resolve
complaints of shudder in reverse. Refer to the appropriate Service Manual for the location of the spacer plate, identifying letter codes, and proper
removal and installation procedures.
