This bulletin cancels and supersedes Chevrolet Dealer Service Bulletin 87-166 (Section 10) dated June 1987. This bulletin provides new materials which
are available for use on basecoat/clearcoat systems.
Some Chevrolet models equipped with basecoat/clearcoat paint applications may experience a condition of small etched spots on horizontal surfaces of
the paint finish. This condition is referred to as chemical spotting and may be caused by industrial fallout (acid rain).

Chemical spotting along with other minor paint imperfections on basecoat/clearcoat finishes, such as sand scratches, dirt in paint, sags and orange peel
may be repaired without paint application. Examples of these imperfections are shown in Figure 1.
