Models:
2004 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT
2004 Chevrolet Avalanche, Tahoe
2004 GMC Yukon, Yukon XL
Condition
Some customers may comment on unusual engine vibration or noise while at idle. This vibration can also be felt in the steering wheel.
Cause
The cause of this condition may be due to contact between the two halves of the engine mount resulting in a ground out when the vehicle is placed in
gear. This occurs when the outboard gap is 1.5 mm (0.059 in) or less. Depending on the severity of the contact, this may also occur when the vehicle is in
Park or Neutral.
Correction
Inspect and adjust the engine mount bracket(s) using the procedure listed below.
1.
Raise and support the vehicle.
2.
Inspect the engine mount(s) for close (1.5 mm (0.059 in) or less) or contact condition at outboard gap (1).
If the vibration is in Drive, check the left mount. If the vibration is in Reverse, check the right mount. If the vibration is in Park or Neutral, check
both mounts.
3.
Lower the vehicle.
