Master Cylinder Push Rod Adjustment (Supersedes Bulletin 82-018 dated Nov 1982)
Do not adjust the master cylinder push rod unless you've just overhauled or replaced the brake booster or master cylinder. Read these instructions before
making the check/adjustment.
1.
Remove the master cylinder.
2.
Adjust the gauge against the master cylinder until it just touches the piston.
3.
Start the engine and let it idle. Leave the vacuum hose attached to the booster.
4.
Then hold/bolt the other end of the gauge against the booster and check the clearance:
73-79 Civic
0.1-0.6 mm (0.004-0.024 in)
76-81 Accord 79-83 Prelude
80-83 Civic
0.0-0.04 mm (0.0-0.015 in)
82-83 Accord

On all cars except 82/83 Accords and 83 Prelude, measure between the end of the gauge bolt and the end of the booster push rod as shown.

On 82/83 Accords and 83 Prelude, measure between the gauge body and the nut on the gauge bolt as shown (because the end of the output
rod and the end of the bolt are covered by the gauge).
NOTE:
If there is no clearance between the gauge body and the nut, adjust the push rod in until some appears; then you'll know the end of the output
