Sunroof Clutch Adjustment on Accord SEi
PROBLEM
The sunroof stops moving or "sticks" as it opens or closes, but the motor keeps running.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The sunroof clutch is slipping.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Adjust the clutch without removing the headliner:
Hole Saw and Mandrel
1.
Modify a Black & Decker or equivalent 3/4" hole saw (U1271) and mandrel (U1240):
Reverse the drill in the mandrel so its blunt end will pilot in the Allen wrench hole in the sunroof motor. Adjust the drill (or if necessary, grind it
off) so the end of it sticks out only 1/2" beyond the saw teeth as shown.
2 Remove the sunroof access plug: Make sure your hands are clean so you don't get the headliner dirty! Turn the plug so the slot in it runs front-to-back,
then push it to one side and gently pry it out with your fingers.
Modified Hole Saw
3.
With the modified hole saw, drill a hole through the sunroof clutch cover, using the access plug hole as a guide.
CAUTION: Use only a 3/4" hole saw. A larger size will cut away too much of the retainer bracket, and the access plug will not hold the
headliner up.
