Power Window Switch CleaningPROBLEM
Power window in the right front door or either rear door does not work.
NOTE:
This problem and corrective action do not apply to the driver's door window because it has a different type of switch than the other windows.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Dirty contact points in the door switch or the master switch.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Clean the contact points in the door switch:
^
Remove the switch (pry up its front edge first).
^
Disassemble the switch (remove Phillips screws and pivot pin from the bottom).
^
Even if the points look clean, rub them lightly with emery cloth or a pencil eraser, then blow them clean with compressed air.
CAUTION: Do not use contact cleaner; it will damage the switch face plate and buttons.
^
Reassemble the switch and re-test it.
2.
If the window still doesn't work, clean the contact points for that window in the master switch (repeat the procedure in step 1).
3.
If the window still doesn't work, follow normal troubleshooting procedures to find the cause.
NOTES:
^
For the '83 SE and the '84 4-door LX, use the wiring diagram in the '83 Accord SE Service Manual Supplement.
^
For the '85 4-door LX, use the '85 Accord Service Manual.
^
The power window control unit (under the driver's seat) controls only the driver's window.
