1.
Turn on ignition and and observe shift indicator operation while moving shift lever throughout range of travel. If indicator fails to operate
properly, check linkage adjustment and shift indicator and repair as needed.

Turn off ignition and connect test harness at ECU, Fig. 23, leaving B connector disconnected from main harness only, not the ECU.
3.
Turn on ignition and measure voltage between terminal A18 (-) and terminals B7 (+) and B9 (+) of test harness.

If meter does not indicate approximately 10 volts, substitute known good ECU and retest. If voltage is then approximately 10 volts, original ECU
is defective.
5.
Connect test harness B connector to main harness, then measure voltage between terminal B7 (+) and A18 (-), Fig. 23, with ignition on and
transmission selector in neutral.
6.
If reading is not below 3 volts, repair open in green wire (terminal B7) between ECU and shift indicator switch.
7.
Measure voltage between terminals B9 (+) and A18 ( - ) with selector in park.
8.
If reading is not below 3 volts, repair open in green wire (terminal B9) between ECU and shift indicator switch. If voltage is below 3 volts, shift
position signal is satisfactory.
