REPAIR PROCEDURE
NOTE:

Before doing any work, review the SRS component locations, precautions, and procedures:

Refer to Section 23 of the 2003-05 Accord Service Manual, or
-
Online, enter keyword SRS COMPONENT and select SRS Component Location Index from the list

Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the audio unit and, if equipped, the navigation system.
1.
Write down your customer's audio presets.
2.
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait at least 3 minutes.
3.
Remove the access panel from the steering wheel, then disconnect the driver's airbag 4P connector from the cable reel.

Make sure the steering wheel points straight ahead, remove the key from the ignition, and turn the wheel to the right until it locks.
5.
Using a hammer, gently drive the 3/8-inch fastener extractor onto the driver's airbag Torx T-30 bolt closest to the driver's door. Insert a 1/4-inch
socket with a 1/4-inch drive extension and ratchet onto the fastener extractor. Slowly remove the 1-30 bolt. Do not remove the other airbag bolt
yet.
NOTE:

Do not use air tools.

Make sure the fastener extractor is square on the bolt.
