ACCORD INSPECTION AND REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Raise and support the vehicle.

2. Remove the front wheels.

NOTE:

Mark a stud and the wheel to make sure the wheel is replaced in the same position as it was removed.

3. Pry up the stake on both front spindle nuts.

4. Torque the spindle nuts to 328 N.m (242 lb-ft).

Did the spindle nut turn more than 45 degrees when you torqued it?

Yes - Remove the spindle nuts, and inspect the spindle nut seating surface on the hub and the spindle for damage. Replace any damaged parts, then
go to step 5.

No - Remove the spindle nuts, then go to step 5.

5. Apply a small amount of engine oil to the seating surface of the new spindle nuts.

6. Install the new spindle nuts, and torque them to 328 N.m (242 lb-ft).

7. Using a drift, stake the spindle nut shoulder against the driveshaft.

8. Reinstall the front wheels, and torque the wheel nuts to 108 N.m (80 lb-ft).
