Alternator FR Signal: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
This signal informs the Engine Control Module (ECM) that the alternator is charging.
OPERATION
The ECM sends a positive reference signal out on this line and then measures the current draw to determine the alternator field state. The lower the
current draw, the lower the rate of charge.
