Factory Security System Sounds When Not Armed 
(Supersedes 99-023, dated March 9, 1999)

SYMPTOM
The vehicle may have one or both of these symptoms:

The factory security system sounds while the vehicle is parked and the doors are unlocked.

*^ The factory security system sounds while the engine is running.*

If the security system sounds when the doors are locked and the vehicle has not been disturbed, the repair procedure in this service bulletin will not fix
the vehicle.

PROBABLE CAUSE
Faulty passenger 5 side multiplex control unit.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the passenger's side multiplex control unit.

Out of warranty: Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Service Manager or your
Zone office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

DIAGNOSIS
The symptoms are usually difficult to duplicate. Confirm the customer's complaint. If the complaint matches one or both of the symptoms, replace the
passenger's side multiplex control unit.

If the customer complains that the security system sounds when the doors are locked and the vehicle has not been disturbed, troubleshoot other causes.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

Before starting this repair procedure, get all of the remote transmitters for the vehicle.

1.

Remove the passenger multiplex control unit. Refer to page 22-44 of the 1998-99 Accord Service Manual.

2.

Replace the passenger multiplex control unit with the one listed under PARTS INFORMATION.

3.

Reinstall all removed parts.

4.

Reprogram all the remote transmiffers. Refer to page 22-208 of the 1998-99 Accord Service Manual.
