Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Service Manager or your Zone Office. You
must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

DIAGNOSIS

* NOTE: 

You will need all of the customer's remote transmitters.

1.

Verify proper operation of all remote transmitters. Press and hold the trunk release button on the remote transmitter for at least 2 seconds. Repeat
this procedure two more times with each of the customer's remote transmitters. *

If the trunk opens each time, return the car to the customer. Remind the customer to hold the button down until the trunk opens.

If the trunk does not open, go to step 2.

Resynchronize each transmitter by pressing the lock/unlock button six times. Try to lock and unlock the doors with each remote transmitter to
check synchronization, then try to open the trunk. Attempt to open the trunk at least two times with each of the customer's remote transmitters.

If the trunk opens, return the vehicle to the customer.

If at least one remote transmitter opens the trunk, go to step 3.

If the trunk will not open with any transmitter, go to step 4.

NOTE:

If a remote transmitter has lost battery power at any time, it loses synchronization with the keyless entry system.

To determine if the non-working remote transmitter is for a 2000 Accord, hold a known good 2000 model remote transmitter and the transmitter in
question side by side. Press the trunk release button on each transmitter at the same time. The LED on the 2000 model remote transmitter will flash
in 0.5 second. A 1998-99 model will flash in 1.1 seconds.

If the remote transmitter in question is a 2000 model, replace it with a 1998-99 model transmitter, reprogram all the remote transmitters, and
return the car to the customer. Refer to page 22-228 of the 1998-2000 Accord Service Manual for the transmitter programming procedure, or
Service Bulletin 98-011, Keyless Remote Transmitter Information, filed under Body Electrical.
