Variable Valve Timing Solenoid: Component Tests and General Diagnostics

1. Disconnect the 1P connector from the Variable Valve Timing and Valve Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) solenoid valve.

2. Measure resistance between the terminal and body ground.

Resistance: 14-30 Ohms

3. If the resistance is within specifications, remove the Variable Valve Timing and VTEC solenoid valve assembly from the cylinder head, and check

the VTEC solenoid valve filter/O-ring for clogging.

If there is clogging, replace the engine oil filter and the engine oil.
