Fig. 40  Set/Resume Switch Steering Wheel Location Test

1.

On models equipped with airbag, disarm airbag as described under Air Bags and Seat Belts / Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems /
Airbag System Disarming).

2.

Disconnect battery ground cable, then the positive cable.

3.

Ensure wheels are in straight ahead position, then remove lower dash panel cover.

4.

Disconnect cable reel harness 6-P connector from airbag harness, then connect test harness C only to cable reel harness.

Check for continuity between terminals of test harness C in each switch position, according to 

Fig. 38.

6.

Remove cover by carefully prying between the cover and the switch in sequence shown in 

Fig. 39.

7.

Check for continuity between terminals in each switch position according to 

Fig. 40.

8.

If there is no continuity in any position, replace the set/resume switch.

9.

If there is continuity in every switch position, replace the cable reel.
