Hold the steel case of the engine mount in one hand, and tap the rubber portion very hard with one finger.

If the engine mount rattles, it is defective. Go to CORRECTIVE ACTION.

If the engine mount does not rattle, it is not defective. Reinstall it using the steps in the CORRECTIVE ACTION procedure, then continue to
diagnose the cause of the noise.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the side engine mount with the improved part listed under PARTS INFORMATION.
1.
Install the new side engine mount. Install the mounting bolt, but do not tighten it. Torque the mounting nuts to 54 lb.ft. (75 N-m, 7.5 kg-m).
2.
Remove the floor jack.
3.
Torque the mounting bolt to 47 lb.ft. (65 N-m, 6.5 kg-m).
4.
Reinstall the power steering reservoir and cruise control actuator.
