Growling Noise from the Rear Wheel
SYMPTOM
A growling noise from the rear wheel bearing while driving. This is most noticeable around 30 mph.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Water has entered the wheel bearing through the hubcap and damaged the wheel bearing.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the rear wheel hub unit and seal the hubcap using the following procedure.
1.
Replace the rear wheel hub unit with the parts listed under PARTS INFORMATION. Use the procedure on page 18-26 of the Service Manual.
2.
Before installing the hubcap (step 19) apply a thin bead of Hondabond HT P/N 08718-0001 (H/C 2963817) to the shoulder area as shown.
3.
If only one hub bearing unit is damaged, also seal the hubcap of the other wheel as a preventive measure.
