Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
Rear
1. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming
procedures. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
2. Disconnect battery, then discharge system refrigerant.
3. Remove right and left lids, rear A/C unit switch, intake grille, outlet panel and lower case.
4. Disconnect receiver line and suction line from evaporator. Plug or cap lines after disconnecting to avoid moisture and dust contamination.

5. Remove two screws and evaporator, Fig. 27.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. If installing a new evaporator, add suitable refrigerant oil.
b. Reinstall A/C thermostat sensor to its original location.
c. Replace O-rings with new ones at each fitting and apply a thin coat of refrigerant oil before installing them.
d. Check for air leakage.
e. Charge system, and test its performance.
